Hunting and Fishing

HUNTING

A passion rather than a sport, hunting has over fifteen thousand members in Liguria who, at the opening of the hunting season, pour into the seven territorial areas and the two alpine areas present in Liguria.

The scarcity of plains and the particularity of the Ligurian woods create the ideal conditions for a massive spread of wild boars. This is the reason why in Liguria wild boar hunting trips are the most popular, although migratory hunting is also very popular.

Regional hunting calendar 2019/2020

The general opening of the hunt in the Ligurian territory this year will begin on Sunday 15 September 2019. With the exception of some species, for which the hunt will end earlier and for others for which the hunt will be extended to February 10, for most species it will end as usual on January 31st. The collective boar hunting period has been postponed compared to last year from 6 October to 6 January 2020. The hunting calendar regulates hunting throughout the region in the areas where this activity is allowed; it indicates the species of wildlife that can be hunted, the periods allowed, the daily maximum and seasonal amount relating to the various species; collective wild boar hunting and selection hunting for ungulates - roe deer, fallow deer, chamois and wild boar.

The forecasted closings are: October 31 for quail and turtle dove; on November 30 hare, partridge, red partridge; December 31 for blackbird and lark; January 20 for the woodcock; 31 January for the pheasant, anatidae, slows and song thrush, redwing and fieldfare, for the thrush in January the collection takes place in a reduced form; on February 10th for wood pigeon, magpie, jay, black and grey crow. Two additional days of stalking are scheduled, in October and November, for the pigeon, blackbird, fieldfare, song thrush and one day for the redwing.
